GOD…is the Creator and Sovereign Ruler of the universe. He is the only perfect being, the True and Living God, infinitely holy and powerful. He has eternally existed as one God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Godhead is co-equal with distinct personal attributes, yet they share nature, essence and purpose.
JESUS CHRIST…is the eternal Son of God. He is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. Through the supernatural action of the Holy Spirit, He was born of a virgin. He then lived a sin-free life, uniquely qualifying Him to reconcile God and man through His sacrificial and perfectly sin-atoning death on a cross. He arose from the dead through bodily resurrection to demonstrate His victory over sin and death. He then ascended into Heaven to the Father’s side. He shall return in the fullness of time and forever reign with His people as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
THE HOLY SPIRIT…is the Spirit of God. He is the third person of the Trinitarian Godhead. He participated in the creation of the universe, “the inspiration” of Holy Scripture (the Bible) and the birth of Christ. He also participates in the “salvation” process through conviction of sin, introduction to the Saviour and regeneration of the spirit of all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord. He then indwells every “believer,” empowering them for service in “the Kingdom” through the endowment of spiritual gifts. He is our comforter, our teacher and our guide in living the Christian life.
THE HOLY BIBLE…is the divinely inspired “Word of God.” It was written by men but authored by God. It is His revelation of Himself to mankind, revealing His plan of “redemption.” It is a record of God’s working through history to accomplish His sovereign will. It points to Christ, God’s fullest revelation and it tells of “end times” and our final abode. It contains complete instructions through Holy Spirit-illumination for living the Christian life. It is truth without any mixture of error and our final authority in questions of “faith”.
MANKIND…was created by God in His own image. We have a capacity for goodness and a will to choose. We are God’s crowning work in His creation. In the beginning, we were innocent and like God in purity of character. Mankind then chose disobedience to God in the form of “sin” and “self.” With the entrance of that sinfulness into creation, came a “fallen” condition. Mankind was separated from a holy and righteous God by the evil in their hearts and lives. Mankind needed a Saviour.
SALVATION…is the gift of eternal life offered to mankind only through the Saviour, Jesus Christ. Without Him, we are all under the death penalty for our sinfulness. Our only hope for life is through Jesus alone by trusting Him and receiving Him as God’s offer of forgiveness. The bitterest truth in scripture is that those who choose their own way will be forever separated from God and tormented in Hell along with those who hate God. Ah, but those who love God and have received Christ look anxiously for His return and toward eternity in a Heavenly dwelling place with Him along with all who love Him.
